Shepherd of Hermas

An early Christian text (c. 100-160 AD) that was widely read and nearly included in the New Testament canon. Contains visions, commandments, and parables given to Hermas by an angel in shepherd's clothing. Important for its teaching on repentance after baptism and the possibility of a 'second repentance.' Influenced Eastern Christian penitential theology.
