St. John of Kronstadt (1829-1908)

Russian parish priest of extraordinary holiness. Celebrated the Divine Liturgy daily with intense fervor that moved thousands. Known for miraculous healings and prophetic gifts. His spiritual diary 'My Life in Christ' is a classic. Pioneered social work for the poor. A forerunner of liturgical renewal. Canonized in 1990. Feast: December 20.
