St. Lazarus of the Four Days

The friend of Christ from Bethany, whose death made Jesus weep and whom He called out of the tomb after four days, still bound in the grave clothes. The chief priests plotted to kill him as well, because many believed on his account. The tradition of the Church of Cyprus is that he fled there, was made bishop of Kition by Barnabas and Paul, and lived thirty more years; his tomb is under the church that bears his name in Larnaca, where bones were found beneath the altar in 1972. The whole Church keeps the Saturday before Palm Sunday as his, Lazarus Saturday, when the Resurrection is announced a week early. Feast: October 17.
