The Orthodox Church of Finland

Autonomous under the Ecumenical Patriarchate since 1923, and the one Orthodox church in the world that keeps Pascha on the Gregorian reckoning, by a decision of the Finnish state in 1923 that the church has not reversed. Its people are largely the Karelians who were evacuated when the Soviet Union took Karelia in 1940, and the monastery of New Valamo at Heinavesi is the old Valamo carried west in the evacuation, monks, bells, icons and all. It is a state-recognised church in a Lutheran country and its services are sung in Finnish.
