St. Gregory the Illuminator
Apostle of Armenia and first Catholicos of the Armenian Church. Through his preaching and witness, King Tiridates III embraced Christianity, and Armenia became the first kingdom to adopt Christianity as a state faith (early 4th century). Revered across the Christian East as a missionary confessor. Feast: September 30.
