St. Mary Magdalene

One of Christ's most devoted followers. Present at the Crucifixion and the first witness to the Resurrection: called 'Equal to the Apostles' and 'Apostle to the Apostles.' In Orthodox tradition, she is NOT identified with the sinful woman of Luke 7; she was a woman from whom Christ cast out seven demons (Luke 8:2). Feast: July 22.
