St. Thomas the Apostle

The Twin, who said let us go and die with Him when Christ turned toward Jerusalem, and who was not there on the evening of the Resurrection. Unless I see and touch, I will not believe, he said, and a week later Christ came and let him, and Thomas answered with the first plain confession in the Gospels that Jesus is God: my Lord and my God. The Church keeps that Sunday, the first after Pascha, as his, and calls his doubt blessed, because it made the Resurrection something touched. By the tradition of the Christians of India, who carry his name, he preached there and was killed with a spear near Madras. Feast: October 6.
