Russian bishop who resigned his diocese to live in seclusion, devoting himself to writing. Produced a massive Russian translation/interpretation of the Philokalia (5 volumes), wrote 'The Path to Salvation,' and maintained vast correspondence on spiritual topics. One of the great systematizers of Orthodox spiritual life. Feast: January 10.
