The Philokalia

A collection of texts on prayer and the spiritual life by 36 authors spanning the 4th-15th centuries. Compiled by St. Nikodemos of the Holy Mountain and St. Makarios of Corinth (first published 1782). The title means 'Love of the Beautiful/Good.' A foundational text for Orthodox spiritual practice, especially the Jesus Prayer and hesychasm.
