The Greek translation of the Hebrew Scriptures made in Alexandria (3rd-2nd century BC). The Bible of the Apostles and the early Church. The New Testament quotes the Old Testament primarily from the LXX. Orthodoxy considers the LXX authoritative; the Masoretic Hebrew text is secondary.
