Brother of St. Basil the Great, Bishop of Nyssa. Mystical theologian and philosopher. His 'Life of Moses' is a classic of mystical theology: describing the soul's ascent into the 'luminous darkness' of God's presence. Taught the infinite progress of the soul toward God (epektasis). Feast: January 10.
